Kevin Daw
Kevin started in the coffee industry in 1980, placing snack
and coffee accounts in many North American markets, including Toronto,
Atlanta, Honolulu, Tampa, Orlando and Cleveland. In 1984 he started a vending
business in Tampa Bay building a three route operation now a part of Tampa Bay
Vending. In 1989 he helped found and became President of Blue Ridge Water
Inc., a bottled water processing operation. Involved in Southern Heritage
Coffee from day one, Kevin is now its President and Chief Operating Officer.
On February 27, 2002, Kevin Daw was inducted
into the National Beverage & Products Association's Hall of Fame. The
ceremony occurred during NBPA's annual convention in Atlantic City.
In
October 2005 Kevin was presented the NAMA Coffee Service Allied Member of
the Year award, following in the footsteps of his father, Stuart, who
received the award in 2000.
A past columnist for Specialty Coffee Retailer magazine
and a certified brewing technician as recognized by the SCAA, Kevin was also
editor of Bean Thinking™, Heritage's highly regarded quarterly
newsletter.
Away from work, Kevin is an avid white water enthusiast,
skier and accomplished musician, as well as the proud father of his son, Jesse.

Southern Heritage Coffee's Kevin Daw
Honored with
NAMA's 2005 Coffee Service Member of the Year Award
Richard Geerdes, NAMA President presented the Coffee Service
Allied Member of the Year award to Kevin Daw at NAMA's October
2005 convention in Atlanta.
When presenting the award, Mr. Geerdes said, "This goes to
someone who exemplifies consistent and significant support for
the Coffee Service Industry and NAMA, is a model of dedicated
customer service and is recognized as a leader within the
industry and the community."
Mr.
Geerdes then read from one of the nomination forms, “Our winner is a
great roaster that produces a superior product time and time
again. All of his coffees are extremely high quality and they
are delivered on time as promised. Our customers are
consistently delighted by the product his company produces,
which makes our company look good. Special requests and unusual
packaging needs are never a problem.
He is always willing to work with us and suggest an alternative
if what we ask for isn’t available. His experience and depth of
knowledge in the coffee industry and willingness to pass that
knowledge on to others has been a tremendous boon to the entire
industry. He has always been ready to answer any questions and
his insights and knowledge have always been on target.”
And, let me add personally that he plays a mean guitar. His
selection clearly proves the cliché that the apple doesn’t fall
far from the tree…his father won this very same award in 2000.
Ladies and Gentleman, your 2005 Coffee Service Allied Member of the Year – Kevin Daw.
